OPERATIONS PLANNER

Afexa Life Sciences Inc is looking for an Operations Planner for their Corporate office located in Edmonton. As a valuable member of the team, the Operations Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Master Production Schedule based on customer orders, forecast, inventory requirements and other internal requirements.  The incumbent will also develop and maintain the production plan which will deliver departmental goals of inventory levels and product availability meeting customer requirements, in an outsourced manufacturing environment.

Duties Include:

• Develop and manage a rolling 3-month production forecast and compare updated forecasts for variances;
• Manage production scheduling to optimize service levels while providing a plan to manufacturing that allows them to run efficiently;
• Interface with contract manufacturers regarding capacity planning;
• Perform supply/demand analysis;
• Interfacing with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to develop and maintain delivery schedules;
• Coordinate and recommend PO coverage in the system sufficient to cover lead-time of product and/or master production schedule;
• Generate and distribute appropriate reports necessary to provide visibility of backlog, order history;
• Support the coordination of new product introductions with Marketing, Sales and Manufacturing;
• Analyze production data for the following: problem identification, root cause identification, trends, measurement of key processes, improvement opportunities;
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as required (fulfillment, budget, operations overview, and any other report as required; and
• Create systems to improve production planning and tracking efficiency.

Education/Experience Required:

• Technical Diploma with a minimum of two to three years progressive experience in an outsourced manufacturing environment utilizing an ERP system with a focus on: Planning/Forecasting in Purchasing or Manufacturing;
• ERP experience is a must; and
• Experience within a lean environment; some understanding of lean principles is an asset.
